The Company

LISA J. BIBEAU, Artistic Director - Ms. Bibeau is a native of Westport, MA and is a graduate of the Hartford Ballet’s Teacher Training Program, one of the most highly respected programs to train and certify teachers of the Vaganova style in this country.  At Hartford Ballet, Ms. Bibeau studied Vaganova technique and pedagogical study with Michael Uthoff, Enid Lynn, Dianne Flemming, Tony Salitino and Wong Chopin; modern training in Graham technique with Mary Hepner; Cunningham technique with Janet Gerson, and; Limon technique with Robin Cutler, Martha Partridge, Laura Glenn and Gary Masters. Ms. Bibeau has also studied classical ballet with Mikhail Korogodsky from the Riga Ballet Academy in Russia, David Howard of the Royal Ballet in London, and Margilyn Caselli of the New York City Ballet.  In addition to her ballet training, she has studied with respected jazz artists Frank Hatchett, Gus Giodano and Luigi.

Ms. Bibeau has performed with the Hyannis Ballet, the Island Moving Company, and the Cape Ballet. She has performed a wide variety of roles from classical to contemporary. Principle roles include the title role in Cinderella and the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker.  Choreography credits of full length works include A Meadow Fantasy, an original full length ballet based on the children’s book of tales, Mother West Wind written by Thornton Burgess, Alice in Wonderland, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cinderella, Coppelia, Hansel and Gretel and The Nutcracker.  She has received critical acclaim for her original works,  Passages, Just Jazz’in and Seachange and her original full length version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.   New this season will be a premiere of her much anticipated full length version of The Princess and the Pea.   Although Ms. Bibeau is extremely proud of her company, The Spindle City Ballet, her greatest accomplishment and her husband Paul’s, is their daughter, Larissa.

Michael Bolger   is thrilled to be working again with Lisa Bibeau and her company.  He was last seen in Spindle City Ballet’s production of Faëries in the spring of 2004.  In addition to dancing with SCB Michael is a company member and director of education for the Island Moving Company of Newport, RI where he just completed their Newport Nutcracker at Roscliff not only as a performer but also as a contributing choreographer with Miki Ohlsen and Eva Marie Pacheco.  As a teacher Michael is on full time faculty at Providence Ballet directing all children’s classes both at the Providence and East Greenwich studios.  He is also on the faculty at Roger Williams University where he was just commissioned to set a new work on the freshmen company for the Dance Theatre Fall Concert.  This spring Michael will be commissioned again to set a work for the RWU Dance theatre for the Spring Concert as well as a solo for Eva Marie Pacheco for the Rhode Island College Department of Music Theatre and Dance Spring Gala.  His past works have been commissioned by RIC Dance Company and Providence College Dance Col where he also was a resident choreographer teaching master classes.  This spring will also bring Michael back to SCB to work again with the fine dancers of the company and set a new work for the SCB Choreographers Workshop.  He dedicates his performances to the loving memory his mother, Rosemary. 

Eddie Camara  hails from the South coast area of Massachusetts and he has performed extensively in and around that area over the years.  Eddie’s theatrical tenure began on stage at the age of 26.  Since then, he’s grown and expanded his talents into such diverse fields as acting, dancing, costuming, stage management and theatrical make-up design. Eddie has appeared in many Spindle City Ballet productions including Dracula, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Faeries as well as several performances of The Nutcracker as a party parent and Mother Ginger. He has also performed at Your Theater in New Bedford, Fall River Little Theatre, BCC’s Summer Stage in Fall River, UMass Dartmouth Theater Company and the Falmouth Theatre Guild. Some of his favorite productions include “LaCage Aux Folles”, A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls, The Illusion and The Sisters Rosenswieg. He has costume designed shows such as King Stag, Annie, Peter Pan, Rumors, Skin Of Our Teeth and Medea. Eddie also appeared as The Wicked Stepmother in our production of Cinderella and is excited to be playing the part of Herr Drosselmeyer this year.

Danielle Dragon - Danielle is a founding member of the Spindle City Ballet.  She began serious ballet studies at The Dance Academy in 1994, and has also trained at Ballet Theatre of Boston, Nutmeg Ballet, New York School of Classical Dance, and American Repertory Ballet.  Some of her past roles for SCB have included Peablossom in A Midsummer Nights Dream, a step sister in Cinderella, and all of the soloist and principal roles in The Nutcracker.  Danielle is also on the faculty of The Dance Academy, instructing both children’s and intensive division classes.  In addition to teaching and performing, she is a senior at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where she will be graduating with her B.A. in psychology.


Margaret Pope
began her training at the School of New Bedford Ballet.  She also trained with Ballet Workshop of New England in Waltham, MA and danced as an understudy for Cadence Dance Project. She continued her dance studies with Boston Ballet School for several years and has performed variations from Coppelia, Giselle and La Fille mal gardee spring shows and appeared in Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker.  This is her first season with the company.

Kristy Reynolds - Kristy Reynolds grew up in southern New Jersey where she began studying tap and ballet at the age of five. She received her dance training through high school graduation at South Jersey Ballet School under the direction of Andrea Duffin Conway. After graduating from High School, Kristy attended Fordham University in Manhattan where she was a part of the BFA program in conjunction with The Ailey School. During her three semesters at the Ailey School, Kristy broadened her dance horizons to include Horton, Graham, and West African and had the opportunity to work with dance luminaries such as Nathan Trice, Max Luna III, and Freddie Moore. Kristy then accepted Traineeship with the Richmond Ballet. Kristy spent two years with the company and performed in The Nutcracker, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Valse Fantasie and a Midsummer Night's Dream. This is Kristy's second season with Spindle City Ballet. She is excited to have the opportunity to perform with both Island Moving Company and Spindle City Ballet again this season.

Danielle Genest is originally from Rhode Island where she trained with Miki Ohlsen at the Newport Academy of Ballet. She furthered her studies at Boston Ballet School, Houston Ballet Academy, and North Carolina School of the Arts. Subsequently, Danielle danced professionally with Hartford Ballet, New York Theatre Ballet, Cadence Dance Project (Colleen Cavanaugh and Dancers), Gleich Dances, and Island Moving Company. She has also worked with several independent choreographers and made various guest artist appearances both nationally and internationally. As a choreographer, Danielle has been commissioned to create works for New York Theatre Ballet, Tallahassee Ballet, and Island Moving Company. Her choreography has been showcased at Hartford Ballet’s Arts Exclusive, the Elan Awards in New York City, and the 10th International Ballettmeeting in Austria. Danielle has also worked in the video genre, collaborating with videographer Dennis Diamond and composer Tony Conniff. Additionally, her choreography was the basis for a computer software commercial video for PC Connection of New Hampshire. Danielle is a co-founder of Janusphere Dance Company. She has created works on the company for each of its seasons and also has performed various pieces in the company’s repertoire. In addition to her work with JDC and Spindle City Ballet, Danielle is choreographing for Festival Ballet Providence. She performs and teaches ballet in Rhode Island where she and her husband currently reside.

David Dubois began his training at the Pinellas Country Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, FL.  He went on to study at San Francisco Ballet School and The Boston Conservatory.  David also dances with the Island Moving Co. in Newport, RI. He previously danced with Jose Mateo’s Ballet Theatre in Cambridge, MA. David enjoys dancing with the Spindle City Ballet and is looking forward to another successful season.

   

Christine Sandorfi - is originally from Port Jefferson, NY, where she began her training with Harbor Ballet Theatre. She attended the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, where she received a BFA in Ballet Performance. She then danced for four years with Kentucky Ballet Theatre, becoming a soloist there and dancing lead roles in The Nutcrakcer, Saerpil, Dracula, and the Don Quixote pas de deux. She is currently in her second season with Island Moving Company in Newport, RI and is happy to be returning to perform with Spindle City Ballet as well.
